information
Soluble
CD22 (sCD22) is a circulating form of CD22, a B-cell–specific transmembrane
glycoprotein belonging to the Siglec (sialic acid–binding immunoglobulin-like
lectin) family. sCD22 is generated through proteolytic shedding or release from
B cells and can be detected in serum or plasma.
CD22
normally functions as an inhibitory co-receptor of the B-cell receptor (BCR)
that regulates B-cell activation and maintains immune tolerance. The soluble
form reflects B-cell activation or turnover and has been investigated as a
biomarker in B-cell–related diseases, including autoimmune disorders and B-cell
malignancies.
