GIP ELISA Kit is a sandwich enzyme-linked immunoassay for the quantitative determination of GIP with high sensitivity and specificity in serum or plasma.

Kit Performance

  • Sensitivity: 20 pg/mL
  • Assay Range: 20 – 1000 pg/mL
  • Cross-reactivity: There is no cross reaction with native immunoglobulins
  • Recovery rate: 80 – 120% with normal human serum or plasma samples with known concentrations.
  • Precision

(CV (%) = SD/mean X 100)

  • Intra-Assay: CV < 20%

Supplementary information

GIP (Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide) is an incretin hormone that regulates glucose metabolism and insulin secretion. It is secreted by K cells in the small intestine in response to food intake, particularly carbohydrates and fats.

After release, GIP binds to the GIP receptor (GIPR) on pancreatic β-cells, a G-protein–coupled receptor, which increases cAMP signaling and stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion.

Circulating GIP levels are low during fasting and increase after meals. In type 2 diabetes, the insulin-stimulating effect of GIP is often reduced despite normal or elevated hormone levels.
